Putting Actors Over 50 in the Spotlight

About

Pigs Do Fly Productions was founded by Ellen Wacher to highlight actors over 50 living their lives in interesting, involved and exciting ways. All of the company’s plays are about and feature actors over 50.

Ellen herself has been a proud and active member of SAG-AFTRA for many years and currently serves as Vice President of the SAG-AFTRA Miami local.  Her activity on the SAG-AFTRA National Women’s Committee and one of her proudest projects – a live screening of a report on Women over 50 in SAG-AFTRA – clearly brought into focus the need to better recognize actors (and audiences) over 50 in theater, television and film.

Prior to becoming a full time actor (Rumors, The Sisters Rosensweig, Joseph Andrews, The False Witness), Ellen had successful careers in other fields. She is a former teacher, having worked at all levels, teaching a variety of subjects to a diverse student population. She also worked as a College Instructor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and a government lobbyist specializing in transportation issues.
